When I started online I kept hearing the term SEO, I had no idea what it was and two years later I wish I would have learned SEO from the start, instead of being a slow learner on this topic. For those who don’t know SEO = search engine optimization, basically its optimizing your webpage so that it will get higher rankings in search engines, which equates to more people visiting your webpage. And if you have done things right, convert those visitors into paying customers, or whatever the goal of your website is.

1.) SEO is free traffic, there are no advertising cost associated with SEO

2.) Helps build a “long term” presence online.

a. If you turn off your PPC campaign your webpage disappears. This is not the case with SEO

3.) If don’t correctly you can get free 100% targeted traffic

4.) Correct SEO has a snow ball effect and you can see traffic double and even triple in a short amount of time

5.) Once you learn SEO, you will be able to use it to easily rank for “fad” search terms, which can get your huge amounts of traffic

Those are just 5 easy reasons why you should never ignore SEO, but there are many other reasons that I haven’t even talked about in this article. If you don’t know anything about SEO, go find all the free material you can on the subject and become a master or SEO, the results easily pay for themselves. Just remember that it’s free, and the traffic never stop and the longer you work at it the more results you will see.

Ever since I started online a few years ago, I have always heard that term “targeted traffic”. I could write a whole book on targeted traffic but well try to sum it up in this article. Targeted traffic is internet traffic that “should” be interested in your products or services. Let’s use this example, a person is surfing the net on finds himself on a website about bicycles. Now on this same page talking about bicycles he sees and ad for water balloons. Are the two products related, no. So you are going to have problems getting that person to click on your ad or even get him to your webpage to purchase a product.

Lets use another example, a person goes to Google and types in “buy bike helmet” and in the search results there is a webpage called “widgets gone wild”. Now do you think that the web page is relevant to what the person is searching for.

Next examples, a person types in “Buy Spiderman movie” and an ad or search results pops up and says, “Buy Spiderman movie 19.99″ See the difference.

So when you are able to match ads to what your visitor deems relevant then that is when you get “targeted traffic” Because you can send 1 million people to a webpage and get a few sales, but if you sent 1 million very interested people to your webpage, what do you think that your sales numbers would be like. That is why you need targeted traffic, it means more sales.

When creating an article, you first need to know what you’re going to write about, what you want to target. This is where keywords come in to play. You will want to look for 3 things when doing your research:

Long tail keywords with low competition

The number of search results for that term

The amount your keywords are worth

When you are just starting out, it’s much easier to go after the keywords with Low Competition. By doing some research ahead of time, you can even find some keyword “Goldmines”.

During your research, look for keyword phrases that have two or more words. This is referred to as “Long Tail Keywords”. You shouldn’t be looking for the keywords phrases with lots of traffic. You want small
search results, this will ensure less competition.

The next thing you should know is roughly how much these keyword phrases are worth (Google Adwords - Adsense). Using the keyword tool in Google will give you a rough estimate of what that keyword
term is worth to you.

Recommend Tools/Services:

All of the links to the tools shown below are included in the free report.

Google Suggestion - As you type into the search box, Google Suggest guesses what you’re typing and offers suggestions in real time. This is similar to Google’s “Did you mean?” feature that offers alternative spellings for your query after you search, except that it works in real time.

For example, if you type “bass,” Google Suggest might offer a list of refinements that include “bass fishing” or “bass guitar.” Similarly, if you type in only part of a word, like “prog,” Google Suggest might offer you refinements like “programming,” “programming languages,” “progesterone,” or “progressive.” You can choose one by scrolling up or down the list with the arrow keys or mouse.

Google Keyword Tool - The Keyword Tool generates potential keywords for your ad campaign and reports their Google statistics, including search performance and seasonal trends. Start your search by entering your own keyword phrases or a specific URL. You can search by Search Volume, Cost & Ad Position Estimates, Volume Trends and Possible Negative Keywords.

Free Wordtracker - Wordtracker helps website owners and search engine marketers identify keywords and phrases that are relevant to their or their client’s business and most likely to be used as queries by search engine visitors.

SEOBook Keyword Suggestion Tool - Driven off Overture, this tool cross references just about every useful keyword research tool on the market.

There are other search results you can choose from as well, simply click the drop-down menu beside “Choose data to display” and select the data you would like to see for your search results.

Your keyword research is one of the most important steps and should be done first before you even decide what type of article you want to write or what product you want to promote with your article.

The only step you need to complete before doing your keyword research is selecting your main niche topic. You can start around a very broad topic or a sub topic. Your keyword research will provide the information you need to have in order to proceed.

Your research will definitely be worth your time in the long run. Don’t cut yourself short before you even get started. Also if you try to target highly competitive keywords right away, you may be digging your own grave.

Now that you know how to do the research for your article, now it’s time to create your articles and promote them so you can start benefiting from them.

People who are currently using a social bookmarking site or sites already understand the great benefits that they can bring not only to your blogs and websites but your business as well.

Let me first explain what social bookmarking is for all of you that may not already know. Social bookmarking will bring your blog or website more traffic. As an internet marketer this is exactly what you want..more traffic to your site.

Every link that you leave on these social bookmarking sites will bring traffic back to the directed site. As you begin to submit your sites to these bookmarking sites (Digg, Twitter, Delicious, Stumbeupon-just to name a few) your site will benefit by moving up in the rankings for search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

How do you use social bookmarking?

First you need to find a social bookmarking site that you would like to become a member of. The registrations process for these sites it usually quick and painless, so just do a search in Google and pick a site that you like.

After you have signed up to these social sites you may begin to submit links to your blogs, squidoo lenses, or whatever you would like to bookmark. I have found that the easiest way to do this is to:

First, sign into the bookmarking site and click to submit/ enter new site.

Next, when asked to do so just fill in the form the bookmarking site provides you. This is where you will need to enter the website information, URL and a quick comment about the site you are marking just to let others know where they will be directed to.

That’s it! You have bookmarked your first site.

Keep in mind that these sites don’t like it much when you try to add a whole bunch of your own websites at one time, therefore, it is a good idea to make some friends on these sites that can assist you in adding your web pages and in return you may do the same for them.

So start bookmarking and you will be able to watch as your site/blog begins to rise in the search engines as more and more people begin to find your pages.

To start with, a knowledge oriented environment. Web 2.0 acknowledges a need and power for knowledge. Information is what makes the world go round, particularly on the internet.

Web 1.0 user generated content tends to have more impact on readers to the site, whereas with web 2.0 it is more a case of user managed content. They don’t just generate the content, they have the capacity to manage it as well! They have control on where it’s presented, who gets to see it, how it is formatted and what it contains. It’s all about what Web 2.0 systems can do for you. It’s the reason why Web 2.0 applications almost always offer as many features as possible with the ability to expand exponentially.

Visitor interaction is the prime requirement of web 2.0 and is why social bookmarking and social networking sites are incredibly popular with more and more people. Web 2.0 has evolved from its predecessor. Rather than fight with the Internet and force it to be suitable to required services and applications, it takes advantage instead of the inherent benefits of the Internet. Worldwide audiences are seen, for example, as a benefit as opposed to a disadvantage.

Syndication is the buzzword describing the numerous processes used by websites to make content available and accessible, with other users and websites. Podcasting and RSS feeds are just two ways to syndicate content.

Web 2.0 is often characterized in a state of perpetual beta, constantly undergoing changes meant to improve its services. Rather than placing new features in one package or version for a website, developers will add a feature to the existing line as soon as they’re created. Web visitors then become effective real-time testers. As a result, web developers can quickly determine the effectiveness and usefulness of any improvements.

Another important objective of web 2.0 development is to make the website accessible for as many devices as possible. This awareness of ever increasing needs to stay connected and continuously growing uses of mobile devices, means web 2.0 developers are ever more seeking out new ways to interact with these different groups. What we see is many people preferring websites that they can access and operate even just on their mobile phones. In the past it was only possible to use your mobile phone to read email messages. Today however, it is a whole lot more advanced than that! As well as viewing messages, you can also compose replies, attach images, songs videos and so many options for downloads it is not true.

A whole generation of people now log on and communicate through social networking sites, exchanging all sorts of things. It is very much the new age of technology, and so far, continues to show no limit to what it can achieve and where it can lead to. Web 3.0? Well that will have to be pretty special to impress the internet surfer of today.

If you use a web 2.0 strategy enough, eventually you will find something that works well. You’ve been taught that when something ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? In other words, if it’s working don’t change it? Sorry to burst your bubble, but in web 2.0 promotion, that’s COMPLETELY WRONG!

In fact, in web 2.0 promotion this is almost a guaranteed way to fail (eventually).

Here’s why…

Anytime you set up a structure of websites in a particular way, with a particular linking structure, you leave a footprint. Meaning, there is a way for a person or a program to see what you have done and to look for similar patterns.

For example, let’s say that your enormously successful web 2.0 strategy involved the following:

1. Using Squidoo as a money page (direct link to the product/item you are promoting).

2. Having three free WordPress.com blogs linking to that Squidoo site with different keywords you are promoting.

3. You add a Digg.com link to the Squidoo site, and use del.icio.us and searchles.com to bookmark each of the WordPress sites.

You have great success with this strategy and find your Squidoo site gets to page one and you start making money. So, you decide to do the exact same thing but for a different product/niche.

You find your results are not as good as they could be, and then you start losing rankings with your first site. Now, this is just an example, and I am not saying it will always happen, but why risk it when it would be simple to change something. Maybe you could use Hubpages as your money page, and one WordPress, one Tumblr and one clearblogs this time. Also, only bookmark a few of the linking websites, or maybe bookmark Hubpages only.

In other words mix it up, that way your footprints are not all over the internet. Sure they are there, but they are not repeated over and over again identically. This way it is much harder for a program (or your competition) to figure out what you have done. Keeping it random is a great strategy that works for web 2.0. I’ve done this consistently for the past 12 months with terrific results. I did have a bad experience when I was starting out, though (similar to the example shown above).

Eventually, being a geek, I figured if I could write a program to look for patterns how easy would it be for Google to do it with the ten billion PhD’s they employ (or whatever the number is)! I realized it would be simple for them to do this. Don’t forget Google owns the search engine data. It is very likely that can query the data in ways you and I can’t to look for these types of patterns. Note that the randomness should not just extend to the sites you choose. You also want to use it in regards to anchor text (don’t always use your exact keywords each time), titles and description on pages, and even who you link to.

Sometimes I link to a competitors page (a minimal risk one that maybe doesn’t sell anything). to throw people/programs off the trail. Maybe I am a bit paranoid, but I can say it’s worked well for me and it can for you as well.

Another thing you might do is use the domain name as the link, or “forget” to use the main keyword as a tag on a particular page. Having “perfect” links, titles, descriptions, tags, etc. is itself a footprint. “Normal” people (that’s non Internet Marketers) would not be so perfect. Therefore if we are aiming to fly below the radar and to appear normal, we should not do it perfectly each time.

However if you go through these methods, not all of them can work for you, and you might not be comfortable with some of the methods described.

This article will show you how to make money online using a website called hubpages.

One of the methods of making money online that has worked for me is article marketing.

This is pretty simple and straight forward, I write an article, publish the article online and monetize the article.

You do not have to write the article yourself, you can get people to write articles for you, I will explain how later.

For a beginner online, there is always the temptation to follow several money making methods, prescribed in e-books all at once.

This can be very confusing and overwhelming to say the least.

My advice is - choose one method and stick with it for a while then you would begin to see results, but you have to be patient.

Amongst the many money making methods, if article marketing is the method you have decided to use to make money online then here are the things you need to be doing:

Writing your articles

Publishing your articles

Driving traffic to your articles.

Monetizing your articles

Writing your articles - you need to be writing good original content articles. You can either do it yourself or pay others to do it for you. If you head over to elance.com now you will find out that you can be able to pay people to write articles for you for as little as $3.00 (three dollars) per article, typically between 250 - 800 words. You can also ask friends, family members and colleagues to write articles for you. If they do not have what it takes to write, you can interview them to get information about a topic they know a lot about.

Publishing your articles - you have to get your articles online. To do this you can either create your own website or publish them on article syndication websites. The major advantage of creating your own website is that you get to keep all the revenue generated from your articles.

There are a some serious draw backs to this approach however, such as:

Cost - you have to bear all the cost of registering a domain name, hosting, maintenance, etc.

Technical know - how to maintain your site.

Driving traffic to your article - apart from the shortcomings of creating your own website, there is also the requirement of getting traffic (visitors) to visit your website and to read your articles. If there are no visitors to your website you would not be able to make any money. Any body who has been involved with Internet marketing will tell you how difficult it is to get visitors, especially to a new website. Monetizing your articles - At the end of day this is your ultimate goal, i.e. to make money from your articles, so you have to find ways of doing this. There are several methods you can use to monetize your articles, like:

selling affiliate products,

placing paid adverts on your articles, and

even selling your own items or products.

The solution to all the problems associated with creating your own website is to use article syndication sites like hubpages.com. There are several benefits of using hubpages.com to publish your article. These include:

You do not have to bother about hosting costs, site maintenance, etc.
No technical knowledge is required to build your article pages.
They have a very acceptable revenue sharing scheme whereby you keep 60% percent of the revenue generated from AdSense ads placed on your articles, plus you can also sell affiliate products through you articles. Some “hubbers” are currently making in excess of $500.00 (five hundred) a month just from AdSense alone.
Hubpages integrates well with Amazon and eBay, and you are allowed to place links to relevant Amazon and Ebay items directly on your article and make money each time one of these articles is bought through your link.
By doing this you will leverage their power of driving traffic to their site. Hundreds of thousands of people visit hubpages every day, and you will benefit from this traffic.
Well written Hubpages articles get high rankings in the search engines.
You can publish articles on any subject you like, provided it meets their terms of use.
They provide a lot of help and support to new hubbers.
There is also a very useful hubbers’ forum where you can ask questions and get answers to any questions you may have.

I bet if you look around your hard drive you will find some original articles you could publish now and start to make money online today!

I remember when blogs first came out. I honestly thought that they were going to be a fad. Boy was I dead wrong. Blogs are probably one of the best means for marketing on the Internet today. The problem is, a lot of people don’t really know how to get the most out of their blogs and other marketers’ blogs. Well, this article is going to give you bloggers some tips that you may find useful. Hopefully, if you implement some of these strategies, you’ll be on your way to making even more money online than you are now.

The first tip has to do with making the most out of your own blog. A lot of marketers will simply create a blog, put up a few articles, maybe a link to an affiliate product or two and that’s it. They’ve done their minimum. Well, it’s going to take more than the minimum to make your blog pull in the big bucks. So, the first thing you should do, and this is the easiest thing to do, is put up an opt in box so you can collect email addresses. Offer them a free report or newsletter that relates to the topic of your blog. Trust me, you’ll get plenty of subscribers if you offer them something of value.

The next tip has to do with making the most out of other marketers’ blogs. That’s right, blogs that are not your own. How can you do this? Very simple. Many marketers have blogs that allow comments. Simply go to one of these blogs, post a comment that actually has some meaning and include a link in your signature back to your own blog. The important thing is to make sure your comment to whatever the topic is, is very good. I’m not talking about one or two sentences. I’m talking about a couple of paragraphs. Trust me, you’ll get a nice following this way if people think you have something important to say.

Finally, there is the promotion of your blog. So many marketers are lazy about this. They simply make their blog post and then ping the blog directories. This isn’t enough. Try writing some articles, submitting them to article directories and including a link to your blog in the resource box. You’ll be surprised how many extra visitors doing this will bring in. Just one article a day is all you need to greatly increase your readership.

Blogs are great tools for marketing if they’re used correctly. Hopefully, these tips will get you going in the right direction.

Blogging use to only be a way of communicating with visitors, but now many people are using it as a sales tool. It is like having a conversation that keeps everyone posted, yet without the length of talking to someone else. In fact that is one of the most popular aspects of a blog. Bloggers can write what they want, suiting themselves. Now with that being said bloggers have now began to use blogs to make money online. This is beneficial to both the readers and the company themselves because of the service it provides to both.

Along with the content of the blog, bloggers can provide important or helpful information to their clients or visitors. Take for example, a frequently asked question piece that focuses on information needed by the clients. An insurance company with links to claims, billing or other needed department contacts would help the customer on a daily basis. This is a quick reference guide and also a way to deliver information to the client without them having to spend hours on hold. Convenience is the key for retaining clients and also having a successful business.

Blogs can also provide information by having featured pieces on a weekly or monthly basis. This can detail the product or service for readers, helping them make a purchasing decision. This can also correspond with product specials helping provide a focus on that particular product. This also gives the customer or visitor key information about specials, discounts and product details. Blogging is a gateway of information between the company and readers nationwide. This provides an easy and great way to open communication, improving the overall company relationship.
