Getting Traffic to Your Website - 3 Ways to Use SEO to Entice Traffic to Your Website

Optimizing your website for the search engines can often fill most people with dread. The thought of having to understand deep technicalities, or the potentially high cost of employing a professional website designer can easily put you off. This isn’t the case though, and with a few hours spent on careful research and planning, you can have a great website that the search engine’s will love, and that you can keep adding to.

Let’s take a look at the roles of three aspects of enticing traffic to your website; it’s layout, size versus quality, and keyword optimization.

1. The layout of your website. Make your website easy to follow, easy to read and easy to navigate. Make sure you use complimentary colors and themes throughout. Again, you don’t need to go overboard with this. You’ve gone to a lot of trouble to provide quality content, so don’t allow the graphics or any other features to distract from this. This is particularly important for enticing visitors to your links.

The first page is always the most difficult. Once you have the format and theme to your liking, or more vitally to the liking of the search engines, you can simply duplicate it over and over, as you add content.

The only way you’ll know if it’s liked by the search engines is from testing - and doing lots of it. Testing is something that you cannot avoid, unfortunately. However, the more you test, the easier, better, and more profitable it gets.

2. Size versus quality. Don’t be fooled into believing you need to have big flashy websites. Because the people that do, don’t necessarily have the best ones; it could be that they have the worst ones. First and foremost, it’s all about quality - search engines and traffic love enticing quality, not quantity. Work on providing the best quality content you can, and if that only means having a smaller (even just a page or two) website, then so be it. As time goes by, you can add more to what you started with, so you’ll find your site grows quite naturally anyway.

3. Keyword optimization. Barring graphics or any other visual content, keywords are one of the most important, if not the most important aspect of enticing traffic to your website, or anything else that involves your written content being uploaded online. You should never be struggling to find the most appropriate keywords for any given niche. There are several good analytical tools - Google’s for one - that you can use. These tools will give you up-to-date data for the most popular searches of the day.
