SEO and Onpage Search Engine Optimization

Onpage search engine optimization is the first step you should take if you want to rank well for your keywords. There are some very important onpage SEO factors you should be aware. This article explains how to work with the most important factors.

SEO factor #1:
Title and description meta tags are most important. There are two reasons why these tags are so important. First, search engines give them very high value comparing with other parts of the page. Second, title and description are displayed in search results. What does it mean for you? You should use your keywords in the title and meta tag description in the form which will attract the visitors to click on the link to your website in search results. Ideal title length is about 60 characters (Google does not display more than about first 65 characters). The description should consist of one or two sentences no longer than 130 characters.

SEO factor #2:
H1, H2, H3, etc. are the best places where to put your keywords. Keyword placed in the H1 tag has higher value than keyword in H2 tag, keyword in the H2 tag is considered to be more important than keyword in the H3 tag, etc. Do not use “font size” tag to create your headings. The visual effect may be the same like when using H tags, but search engines prefer the H tags.
