Search engine optimization has been the great mystery of the past decade that many have made millions on. Do you know what it’s all about? In recent years we have learned that link building and bookmarking are part of it, but what is really involved and why does it cost so much? The answer is that the very mystery of it allows SEO companies to charge more for what is really a very simple process. There’s a lot of deception going on here. This is our list of top three SEO fallacies:

1.”We guarantee Page One rankings.” No one can guarantee Page One, particularly on Google. They change their algorithm so often that most of the work you do today to improve your position will be obsolete tomorrow.

2.”Organic Traffic is the best traffic.” This is a complete falsehood. Organic traffic is mainly window shoppers, not serious qualified buyers. If you want conversions use more direct methods.

3.”Effective SEO takes months, maybe years, before you see results.” This one is actually partially true. It takes months or years for some of these SEO methods to produce results and you’ll be paying through the nose while you wait. The false part of this statement is the word “effective”. If you’re measuring ROI and profit margins SEO doesn’t work.

So, if all of these statements are false then how is it that SEO companies are still making money? The answer is that many are not. The word is out and the SEO lie is dead. There are other, much better ways to generate traffic that will convert.
