Does SEO Really Bring You More Website Traffic?
If you asked that question of your SEO company they would no doubt show you charts and graphs of website traffic you “should” be getting and will “most likely” be getting in the near future. A really good SEO company can even show you analytics of website traffic you’re currently getting and where its coming from. They’ll point out where the source sites match their link building efforts and take credit for any increase in flow that you may have recently seen. The question is, “Did they do it, or is it the result of your other advertising, marketing, or referrals?”
If SEO is all that you’re doing then you can give it the credit for increased website traffic. If you have other methods in place of spreading the word about your product or service then you need to take those into account.
If your SEO company is encouraging you to increase your efforts in other areas while they are doing search engine optimization then they are trying to mask results. You will get a certain amount of website traffic just by doing normal day to day business and running some standard advertising campaigns. Will you get more if you add SEO to that equation?
Does SEO really bring you more website traffic? If you’re on Page One for all of your keywords will you get the kind of traffic you need to justify the expense? If you do, will that traffic convert for you? Unless you can answer yes to all of these questions you should not spend all that money on SEO.
