Are You Aware Of The Parameters Influencing The Keyword Frequency?
Ever since Google has thrown down the gauntlet at unscrupulous webmasters resorting to keyword stuffing on the webpage content, the confusion between keyword density and keyword stuffing has become more complex. In fact, there is a very thin line that distinguishes between keyword saturation and keyword stuffing. As the search engines never reveal the maximum number of keyword frequency allowed on a webpage, the webmasters are still perplexed about the keyword algorithms. Moreover, even today, all the WebPages across the Internet are being developed with more or less informed guesses about keyword frequency. However, it is certain that the search engines penalize the websites that are found with keyword stuffing and hampers the search engine ranking.
How Do GYM Treat Keyword Density?
Major search engines- Google, Yahoo, MSN- rank the pages on the basis of the use of keywords on specific places of the WebPages. Page title is the first attribute that is considered while ranking a page for a particular keyword. Hence, presence of keywords in the Title Tag, at least once, is essential for all major search engines. Besides, the Meta description, Meta Keywords and the Body of the text are the other parts of the webpage that are taken into account while ranking them. Again, the body of the webpage includes the main text, anchor text, headings (H1, H2, and H3) and hyperlink URL where the keywords can be placed.
There are certain parameters that are considered by the search engines while calculating the keyword frequency on a webpage. Aligning to these parameters can ensure that the keyword frequency doesn’t exceed the maximum number allowed by the search engines.
Keyword Frequency
While keyword frequency is the number of times a particular keyword or key phrase has been used in a web document, the frequency can be calculated by exact, non-exact or partial matching. Exact matching is possible in case of single-word keyword and the frequency for exact matching can be high. In some cases, the search engines also consider the keyword modification and allow keyword stemming for partial matching. While considering the keyword phrases, the non-exact matching key phrases also get calculated for the frequency checking.
Number of Words in the Analyzed Area
Apart from the frequency of the keywords, the total number of words present in the section of the webpage that is being analyzed is one of the major areas of consideration. Using too many words in the H1, H2 or anchor text can be considered as spam and could even demote your search engine ranking in major search engines.
Weight of Keyword in a Particular Section
It is the concentration of keyword on a page compared to other words. The keyword weight is considered by the search engines while ranking a page for that particular keyword.
Keyword Prominence
Generally, search engines assign greater value to more prominent keywords. Placing the most targeted keyword in the beginning of the title, H1, or body of the webpage is more beneficial. However, care should be taken to use the keywords as naturally as possible to avoid spam.
Although, these parameters don’t assure you of high search engine rankings, they can still educate you about keyword stuffing and placing your keywords in right places on your webpage.
