There are several factors to determine where you belong in the search engine. However, there is one that matters the most. The one thing that matters the most is the title tag of your site. Your title tag can be “How To Use the Steering Wheel With Your Feet”, while the content in your site can talk about dancing, and your site will still rank very high in the search engine if someone searches the term “how to use the steering wheel with your feet”.

The other way around will not be true. If your title has something to do with dancing, your site might not rank high for the key phrase about the steering wheel. What does this tell you? The title tag of your site is very important!

A lot of beginners make the mistake of not using the title tag properly, or leaving the title tag completely empty. Titles such as “Untitled” or “Welcome To My Website!” are not beneficial to your site. You have to think to yourself what is the main idea of your site. If the entire site is mainly about steering the wheel with your feet, then make sure the title tag has a bunch of words that describe the idea of the page.

The title tag makes a big difference between lots of traffic and very little traffic. A lot of people take pride of putting their real name in the title tag. Ask yourself this question, “Am I popular enough for people to find my site using my name?” If you answered no, then you are better off concentrating on keywords for your title. Take some time to brainstorm ideas for your title because it is a very important element to rank high in the search engine.
