Link Building the Ethical Way

This is one area that needs to be discussed as sometimes there is conflicting information regarding how to build a link ethically. We will talk about the definition of ethical link building and show you how to do this, so that you don’t have a problem with ethical link building. Ethical link building by definition is building links that are not false, plagiarized or stolen from other sources on the web. The links in question are built so that they link to legitimate sites from your site. Each of these links must be built right in order to work properly.

An unethical link can also be known as spamming. What spamming does, is it takes a link that is legitimate and changes that link or that information so that it is extremely similar to the correct link, but yet leads either nowhere or to spam pages. Building an unethical link can get you banned, not only from the internet, but also from your ISP or internet service provider. Another unethical link is one that leads back to someone else’s work, but the link was not authorized. If you do not have permission to link to another person’s page, then don’t do it.

That is considered a copyright infringement issue and will get you sued for it. Many sites have been closed down because they had these types of links on their pages and were reported to the site in question. Now that you know what an unethical link is, let’s talk about how you go about creating a correct hyperlink on your site that leads to approved information. When you are writing copy for the site, if you are linking somewhere else that is copyrighted, be sure that you have that person’s permission to use trackbacks to their site.

You will also need to be sure that your link is spelled correctly and that the link actually works before publishing on the site. Incorrect linkage is just as bad as spam linkage. If in doubt, then spell it out. When you are using things such as trackbacks to keep tabs on your written articles, be aware that you may need to either put a watermark on the article in question or disable trackbacks. Why is that? Because there are things such as Splogs, or spam blogs that use spiders that will take legitimate information and put it on another page.

This page will also include other writing that does not pertain to the information in question. IT also contains false links to stuff being sold that is not legitimate and if your information is on there, you would get nailed as well. If you have the watermark present, then you will not have to worry about getting splogged. Splogs are also created by spammers to spam people. This is an unethical use of spiders and blogs and should not even be considered. When creating linkages for your site, not only does spelling need to be checked, but all information that is being linked to must also be correct.

These are all ways to ensure that your linkages are correct. If you are creating your linkage in a word processing document before transferring to a site, you would use the create hyperlink from the insert button on a Word document. You will type in the link and the keyword that the link will link to and the text will turn blue when it is entered onto the page. Each time the keyword is clicked then the hyperlink will lead directly to the page that is being linked.

So this is how you create correct linkages on your site using a link building tool. You also now know what the definition of ethical links is. You also know about Splogs and how to avoid them.
